Killer Special deals no dmg

Hey there,
since im using my "Massacre Soldier Killer" for the first time as an hard hitter for the kraken island im a bit irritated at the moment.
It sometimes happens that killers special just deals 0 dmg (i dont even see a digit for dmg) while my hp still drops and cd is reseted.
This already killed me several times now and i just dont get it WHY he doesn't deal any dmg at all.
Maybe one of you can help me out here
