Skill Books & Skill Up

Just wanted to share my finding in case anyone was wondering. I read somewhere that someone used 4 skill books per power up, so I did that as well.

Note that these were all done during the Apr/1st ~ Apr/7th double chance on power up event.

On Kuro, I got a skill up everytime using 4x regular Kuro on my Evolved Kuro (same skill). On one of the power ups, I got 2 skill ups instead of just 1.

On Nami, I got a skill up everytime using 4x skill books.

On Usopp, I got a skill up everytime using 4x skill books. On the last power up, I got 2 skill ups instead of just 1.

On Tashigi, I used 4x regular Tashigi on my Evolved Tashigi (same skill), this power up was a Super Success, I got not 1, not 2, but 3!!! skill ups.

I think it's safe to say 4x skill books or chars with same skills can guarantee skill up during the double chance event.

I wonder:
1. If using 4x skill books/chars gives 100% skill up regularly or only during the double chance event
2. Super success during power up affects the skill up chance
3. Whether it's possible to get multiple skill ups, however low the chance, with just using 1 skill book/char without any bonus event/success

Anyone else want to share what they know regarding skill ups? =)

One thing I want to know as well is how high do skill levels go? I think someone mentioned that it's different on every char. Would be nice to know that so I can use extra skill books on other chars for power ups.

The skill books are for evolved Arlong, did you use it on a regular or evolved? If you use it on a regular Arlong it won't work since they have different skills.

I just got 3 more Nami skill ups today using the same method... So far it's been 100% success for me.

Its enraged arlong (level 67).  Feed it the normal arlong to get the level up and 4 enraged skill books to get a skillup; no skillup was given (but did level)

Update:

Just got another 4 books, and they gave me 2 skill-ups!

It's funny because just now I used 4x skill books on my Nami and it failed to skill up.

She's currently at skill lvl 7 though. Perhaps higher levels have lower chance of skilling up?

What skill level is your Enraged Arlong when it failed to skill up?

My nami is maxed without any failures.
Arlong was lvl 2 when it failed.

So my guess is that 4 + double event doesn't quite hit 100%, so you will randomly not skill-up. (I think the source of the "why 4" was the Mihawk video, which failed only at the beginning).

Just failed another 4x on my Nami.

I'm still farming Elite to max my Nami, haven't even started on Expert yet for Arlong... =(

Played all day today but mostly get Colas which was rather frustrating when I want to max Nami. First world problem, I know. =P

May I ask what's the max skill level for Nami?

Ah, sorry. Guess there was confusion on my part. Im farming Expert so the Nami im talking about is Thunderbolt Tempo (because... why not?).

For 5* version, you get it down to 20 turns (meh).

It's my fault. I should've known that if you're using skill books on Enraged Arlong, you're farming in Expert, and therefore also skill books for Thunderbolt Nami.

I just maxed Mirage Nami at skill level 8, which makes it an 8 turns skill. =)

Now, time to tackle Expert mode...

Im having very bad luck right now. Last night I had 10 runs, no turtles or books. Today another 10 runs and no turtles or books. 11th run I finally get a arlong book (had 3 others) so try to level up skill... no skill-up -_-

I guess it's coming to me all at once... 3x 4 Thunderbolt Tempo books on my Thunderbolt Tempo Nami, all failed; and she's only at skill level 1 too.

Made me double check the books and my Nami. This is really sad... 12 books down the drain. =(

Something is wrong. I just did another 4 books on my Nami but no skill up. 4 consecutive failures? That's really hard to believe, on a skill 1...

I put five, count 'em, FIVE, usopp golden hammer books into my usopp, one-by-one, during april's 2x sp chance without a SINGLE SKILL UP. My usopp is still at MINIMUM. I even fed him another golden hammer usopp that I raised myself- NOTHING

Week, later, I have six mirage nami books. she eats one, no skill. she eats the next five in one shot- not a shiver.


I tell you, I hate sp level more than anything.

Guys, there's no magic behind it, there's no tricks in using 1, 4 or 5 skillbooks at once. It's all luck, and chances are counted separately, so it doesn't matter at all. Everything else is just voodoo.

of course useing 4 skillbooks is pretty safe to get atleast 1lvl up during the event

the usual chance for one lvl up/book is 1/6  -> event 2/6=1/3

the chance for no lvl up is 2/3 per book

->4!/4!x(2/3)^4=0.02469   so a chance of 2.5%for failure->97.5%for succes for 1lvl up or more...


but teher is still no difference for 4 or 5 or 1book at a time

Erm, that equation you just wrote makes no sense... 4!/4! = 1 so why not just write (2/3)^4? Also (2/3)^4 is .1975 so that means you have essentially a 20% chance for failure.

I thought the chances were 12.5% or 1 in 8.

During the event, I put 5 skillbooks into GP Usopp, got 2 skill-ups, then put another 3 skillbooks and a lvl 1 GP Usopp I evolved from a rare recruit, and got 1 more skill-up. Those, paired with the 1 skill-up I got from 4 books 1 by 1 before I knew about the event, got me to 11 turn cooldown and GP Usopp.

I just use either four or five at a time. I have gotten multiple skill ups from using more than one book and characters in the past.

I believe the math is off. (2/3)^4=0.1975, the chance of no skill up when feeding 4 at a time.
